Interviews Day 12!

Name: Candice Hartsough McDonald
Business Name: Cordial Kitten
Location: Indianapolis, IN

What do you make? Cute and sinister original illustrations and matching pendants, plus some plush and soft broaches.

How did you learn your art/craft? I grew up in an artsy family, with a mom who is a fine artist and a dad who designed and built houses. I wanted to be like them, and have drawn, sewn, and built things for as long as I can remember. I went to the Herron School of Art at IUPUI where I studied illustration, but I never gave up sewing and embroidery for fun.

Where do you get your inspiration from? Anywhere I can. I spend a lot of time looking at other crafters' products on etsy, and I love flipping through children's books for their beautiful artwork. If I'm stumped for an idea, I'll listen to music with lyrics I love, or just go outside for a walk.

Do you have a "real world" job? I work part time at the library branch in my neighborhood. I love books, and working there gives me a really good excuse to spend hours flipping through the children's books I love.

Your five favorite things: My husband Brandon, my kitty Mona, chips and salsa, Flight of the Conchords, and a really good latte.
